About Us

Who We Are

The Earth Shack Software LLC is an independent developer focused on clear, dependable tools for technically minded users. We value simplicity, accuracy, and professional presentation — without unnecessary complexity.

EarthView reflects that philosophy: a focused, single-purpose tool built with care — delivered as a single self-contained HTML file that runs locally in a modern browser.

Our Mission

We build tools for people who value clarity, reliability, and situational awareness. EarthView is designed to be fast, lightweight, and easy to run on a single computer — whether on a dedicated display, workstation, or field laptop.

Our goal is simple: provide a clean, dependable geospatial visualization that helps you understand the world at a glance.

About EarthView

EarthView gives you a clear, real-time picture of what’s happening on — and above — our planet. From seismic activity to satellite position, from day/night cycles to tectonic structure, EarthView brings together trusted public data sources and local computations into a single, intuitive full-screen display.

What EarthView Does

EarthView combines:

  • Live earthquake data from USGS
  • Volcano locations from USGS, with curated lists of notable volcanoes
  • Tectonic plate boundaries (PB2002)
  • ISS & Tiangong (CSS) orbital tracking
  • Two selectable radio satellites with optional AOS/LOS timing
  • Local day/night terminator (grayline)
  • World clocks using IANA time zones
  • Optional local weather and alerts (MET Norway & NWS)

All of this is displayed in a single, full-screen interface designed for readability and continuous operation.

How We Build

EarthView is engineered with a focus on:

  • Transparency — clear attribution and open data sources
  • Performance — efficient rendering and local computation
  • Reliability — graceful handling of network delays or outages
  • Maintainability — simple setup, no additional dependencies, no accounts

We use permissively licensed components and public-domain datasets wherever possible. Attributions are listed on our Third-Party Notices & Data Credits page.

What EarthView Is Not

EarthView is a visualization tool — not an alerting system. It is not intended for emergency management, evacuation decisions, or safety-critical use. Always rely on official agencies for real-world warnings and guidance.
