The Earth Shack Software LLC is an independent software developer focused on clear, dependable tools for technically minded users. We value simplicity, accuracy, professional presentation, and practical usefulness — without unnecessary complexity.
Our work centers on local-first software: tools that are easy to run, easy to understand, and designed to keep the user’s working environment under the user’s control.
Our Mission
We build software for users who value clarity, reliability, and situational awareness. Our products are designed to help users see what matters quickly — whether monitoring real-world conditions, organizing a station display, reviewing information, or preparing for the day ahead.
Our goal is simple: provide practical, local-first command and awareness tools that make complex information easier to see, use, and understand.
What We Build
The Earth Shack Software suite is organized around two product families:
- Situational Awareness Suite — display and monitoring tools for real-world awareness, technical operators, and command-style dashboards.
- Personal Command Suite — local-first desktop tools for daily planning, personal organization, portfolio awareness, and dense one-screen visibility.
Some products are available now, while others may be in active development, testing, or release-candidate review. The current status, features, requirements, and availability of each product are described on its individual product page.
Across the suite, our products are intended to be lightweight, readable, and practical. Many are delivered as self-contained HTML applications that can run locally in a modern browser without a cloud account, subscription service, or complicated installation path.
Situational Awareness Suite
Our Situational Awareness products are built for users who want a persistent, readable display of changing conditions. These tools may include geospatial visualization, space weather, HF propagation context, weather and hazard awareness, satellite tracking, display-wall management, or other live data surfaces.
This product family includes tools such as Sentinel, Guardian, Monitor, Kiosk, and Sentinel Pro, depending on current release availability.
These applications are designed for continuous use on a workstation, dedicated screen, field laptop, shack display, or command-style information wall.
Personal Command Suite
Our Personal Command products are built for users who want practical personal visibility in one local workspace: daily context, tasks, links, weather, news, portfolio awareness, and other information that benefits from being close at hand.
This product family includes tools such as Daybreak and Vestrus, depending on current release availability.
These applications emphasize local-first use, dense one-screen visibility, user-owned backups, no cloud account, and practical daily or portfolio awareness without unnecessary platform lock-in.
How We Build
Our work is guided by a few practical principles:
- Clarity — interfaces should make information easier to understand, not harder.
- Reliability — tools should handle delays, missing data, and network interruptions gracefully.
- Local-first design — where practical, user data should remain on the user’s computer and under the user’s control.
- Transparency — public data sources, third-party components, product limitations, and important dependencies should be clearly disclosed.
- Maintainability — products should avoid unnecessary dependencies, accounts, subscriptions, and setup complexity wherever possible.
We use permissively licensed components and public-domain or publicly available datasets wherever practical. Attributions are listed on our Third-Party Notices & Data Credits page.
What Our Software Is
Earth Shack Software products are practical information tools. They are built to help users organize, visualize, monitor, and understand information in a clean local interface.
They are especially suited for users who prefer ownership, simplicity, and direct control over their working environment.
What Our Software Is Not
Our software is not a replacement for official agencies, professional advice, emergency alerts, brokerage records, financial advice, weather warnings, or safety-critical systems.
